Founded in 2006, and incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in 2011, FIXT POINT is a professional theatre and media company, currently receiving operating support from The Ontario Arts Council. Our goal is to engage with the community through the combination of site-specific performance and audio art in order to tell tales across multiple platforms that serve to preserve local heritage and promote neighbourhood culture.

FIXT POINT is headed by Artistic Director, Lisa Marie DiLiberto and Managing Director, Charles Ketchabaw.

In summer of 2012, FIXT POINT took their acclaimed project The Tale of a Town across Ontario, trading Chapman’s ice cream for main street stories. During our tour, we engaged with hundreds of community members throughout the province, created a site-specific audio map with the gathered stories, and released seven editions of a podcast for The Walrus entitled “A Walk Down Main Street”. During this tour, we also produced a live site-specific spectacle for Nuit Blanche North in Huntsville and completed two radio extensions for Ontario Morning on CBC Radio One.

Over the past few years, FIXT POINT has seen tremendous growth. In 2011, we opened the main stage season of Theatre Passe Muraille to much acclaim with The Tale of a Town – Queen West, which was later produced into a full-length radio show for CBC Radio One. Earlier, we created a promenade performance and The Tale of CORKtown with Canadian Stage.

Beyond our current Tale of a Town series, FIXT POINT has also produced widely-acclaimed tours of original work, taking us to the Edinburgh Festival, the Prague International Festival, across Canada, and to the UK and Austria. FIXT POINT also produces professional workshops in Bouffon and Clown across North America facilitated by French Master Philippe Gaulier.

In 2012, FIXT POINT presented The Four Corners, a live site-specific radio play exploring the differing socio-economic class structures found in cities. For Theatre Passe Muraille’s Beyond the Walls Season; The Markham Tales, a site-specific winter show in Unionville commission by Diaspora Dialogues; The Tale of a Town – St. Catharines supported by The Canada Council and presented at In The Soil Festival; and, Stor(y)age a site-specific multimedia performance for Magnetic North.

Recently, FIXT POINT has produced The Tale of London Town with The Grand Theatre and The Downtown London Association; The Tale of a Town – Ottawa with The Shenkman Arts Centre, Arts Court and The Great Canadian Theatre Company; The Tale of a T-Shirt with Theatre Direct; The Tale of Harbourfront Centre to premier at World Stage (a Fresh Ground Commission).

Currently, FIXT POINT is working on the recently-launched The Tale of a Town – Canada in collaboration with The National Arts Centre.
