PROJECT

Join the picket line and be part of the historic 1947 Strike at Medalta.

Drawing on real accounts from court proceedings, newspaper articles and City Council minutes, this play by Medicine Hat resident Jay Johnson recounts the reasoning and rebellion surrounding this game-changing era in Alberta's labour history.

Following a development workshop in 2017, Medalta on Strike was presented in July 2018 at the historic Medalta National Historic Site, as a roving, immersive theatre production that led audiences around the site and into the old factory quarters where the actual events of this unforgettable story took place over half a century ago.
