Philippe Gaulier is founder of École Philippe Gaulier, a theatre school located in Sceaux, near Paris. He trained with Jacques Lecoq from 1965 – 67. Then became a teacher at École Jacques Lecoq from 1976 – 80. Gaulier is considered internationally as a master for his work in the areas of Clown and Bouffon.
Former students at the school include the theatre director Simon McBurney, whose company Theatre de Complicite has been influenced by Gaulier’s work, and the actors Emma Thompson, Marcello Magni, Kathryn Hunter, Cal McCrystal and Sacha Baron Cohen.
Gaulier encourages his students to embrace their own uniqueness as humans and build their clown from this. He works with professional actors as well as amateurs to open their listening, comedic timing, and satirical skill.
In 2011 FIXT POINT partnered with École Philippe Gaulier to bring the French Clown master to North America. We have presented Master Gaulier leading workshops in Toronto, Chicago and Los Angeles. Stay tuned for upcoming master classes in New York and Quebec City. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to be updated about upcoming workshops.

In the winter of 2011 FIXT POINT brought Master Clown instructor Philipe Gaulier to Toronto for a 2-week intensive on Bouffon. Many traveled from far away, many new friends were made. The best part is he loved his stay so he'll be back in April of 2012 for a little more play.
